I was inside a creepy dark cathedral. A Grim Reaper - like monster manifested behind me.
The body itself was a completely black shadow clad in a brown robe. It did nothing hostile but I determined existing itself was enough of a crime. My branching spines burst from my back in an explosion, penetrating the spectre. They bulged and thickened as they exited its body, preventing my prey from escaping. Then I retracted them, crushing the Reaper against my back like an empty beer can.
My victory was short though as this was an incorporeal ghost who just manifested again before me. Annoying. I tried to fight it again but then woke up.
