SUBMIT surveys to penultimate.forme@gmail.com Updated october 23 2013 (If you have submitted a previous version, you can re-send with this updated version) Feel free to answer as either host or tulpa, just include a way to delineate between the two. If you do not want to respond to a question, leave it blank and I will edit it out of the final. If you have multiple tulpas, you can choose a 'main' tulpa to focus on for the questions, or talk about them in general, or you can answer each question separately for each one. Whatever seems to make sense for you. 1. Describe yourself, for example age, location, gender, spiritual/religious/secular orientation, whatever you feel comfortable with or feel is important in regards to your tulpa: 2. Do you have any medical conditions that interact with your tulpa? If you can, explain. 3. Do you follow a spiritual, religious, or secular ritual practice? (Including but not limited to meditation, psionics, healing, projection, religious, secular rituals, etc) 4. Describe your tulpas: (If there are multiple, please include all of them to the best of your ability) For example, Name(s)? Age? Gender identity? Appearance? Personality? Where they inspired by a pre-existing character, trope, universe, etc? Please be as complete as possible for this question. 5. How much of the qualities were intentional from the tulpa's inception? 6. Which surfaced over time/appeared out of your control? 7. What are some of the goals and milestones you have met? 8. Which goals are in progress? 9. What is your wonderland like? 10. Why did you create the wonderland the way you did? 11. How does your tulpa relate to your wonderland? 12. What is your spiritual/philosophical/career/secular/etc background, and how did that inform your opinion about tulpa as a phenomenon? (Restated, what was your intial opinion of tulpas as a result of your previous views?) 13. Why did you originally decide to create a tulpa? (If this was not a cognitive decision, what are the factors leading up to the tulpa's creation?) 14. Do you use your tulpa for spiritual guidance or self improvement, either intentionally or unintentionally? 15. Does your tulpa perform functions that you would be unable to accomplish on your own? (e.g., servitors, subconcious spelunking, HUD, emotional support, pain therapy, anything you would be unable to do without your tulpa.) Additionally, do you consider this a "superpower"? 16. Have your goals changed from before you had a tulpa? 17. Has having a tulpa altered your philosophy and/or belief system? 18. What has been the most unexpected? 19. What has gone according to plan? 20. What has been the most rewarding? 21. What are the positive consequences of having your tulpa? 22. Are there any negative consequences? 23. Any neutral (a.k.a. "hmm, interesting!") consequences? 24. Favorite moment? 25. Scariest moment?26. Have you met another tulpamancer offline? In what ways was this similar and different to people who don't know about your tulpa? 27. Do your family and friends offline know about your tulpa? How did they initially react, and have they come to acceptance? 28. Anything else you want to include: 29. Feedback on the survey and zine: (suggestions for edits, future content, future survey questions) 30. How would you like to be credited? (Can be real name, nickname, alias, tulpa.info username, tumblr URL, blog link, etc. or preference to be anonymous) 31. Would you like to give permission for other content belonging to you to be utilized in the zine? (For example your tulpa.info posts, blog posts, progress posts, etc. Please include links here if you have a blog, or anything you deem relevant.) Information on how this content will be used: The publication is 16 pages at the moment. The majority of the content will be sourced from forum posts, tumblr posts, etc. from the community, and will be organized into loose themes for the page spreads: progress reports, creation methods, ethics, science/research, metaphysics, glossary, etc. The interview/survey will be organized into a separate spread, and be accompanied by an illustration. The focus is on portraying the community as something that is established and legitimate and widely documented (just lacking academic research), and that each individual's tulpa has a different and profound impact on them. There is a larger narrative that I hope to reveal as time goes on. This is my personal opinion that the phenomena that is tulpamancy has profound consequences for how we understand psychology and ontology. How credit will be given: Feedback on this would be appreciated. My plan at the moment is to psuedo-anonymize the majority of the content. For the majority content, usernames/urls/etc will be given in alphabetical order on the back page using whatever identifier you provide in the last question. (Obviously you can google the "anonymized" content string to find it online, so if someone was curious, they could find your page.) The interview/survey section will give credit explicitly to the contributor, as this section is more about them personally. I plan to curate the information more than edit it. Content may be chopped up or truncated, but I won't be paraphrasing or changing words etc. I may do a minor amount of spellchecking. My original content will be in the forum of an intro on the first page explaining the history and definition of a tulpa, and the rest will be sourced from the community. Thanks for taking the time to take the survey. To sign up for the newsletter, put your email here: You'll receive updates, calls for content, and a copy of the zine in a .pdf when they are released. (I won't be spammy, no more than 1-2 emails a month, probably less than that.)
