Carbon monoxide I bet. It's a real problem with the old and unwilling to get their gas heater checked. We use air exchange gas heaters that are inside the flipping house and that's why we require CO detectors for all new homes and upgrades. The old homes don't.
LA is no different, 50's -60's homes old and old people who own them.
I get my heater serviced every year it's not expensive.

CO poisoning is rare here because, well, we don't need heating in this tropical climate. But I remember there was an incident in the kitchen of restaurant that sent dozens to hospital.
The Hackman case still make no sense. They say they my have been dead for weeks yet two of their dogs roamed the property and were in good health while one was dead inside. How did they survive? Somebody must have fed them, they didn't eat the corpses. It appears Hackman was a total recluse but still Kashtan's right, it's sad that nobody noticed sooner that they were dead. Windows 10 office 2019, works, but can't sleep mode or stay on for many days, very hard to navigate settings, many settings officially removed, no aero support... uhh ok
Windows 11 office 360 glitching to hell, freezing, excel is glitching cells no fix, bloatware, privacy issues looks worse than Windows NT but at least it's not windows 8 again.

We still work with Win7 on an offline computer at home. All my pirated software only works on that, mostly photography stuff.
At university there's still machines that run on 3.11
But honestly, there is no reason to use bloatware-botnet Windows in the year 2025 and pay premium for it on top of that. Linux exists and is more stable and reliable than Windows that breaks with every 2nd update.

I go in his office by chance and I'm talking about how my work computer is wrecked and didn't take the transition to W11 well and he offers to buy me a new comp (which is 10k btw because I need the high end GPU for mathematical modeling) and I start talking about how I kinked my neck sleeping wrong and how it sucks but it's improving because he had a problem with his neck and I wanted to ask him how it went (it recovered like mine will) and I say, "I'm in good spirits" and he says something like, "you're the only one, who are your heroes?"
What he meant here in context was to feel me out on Trump and Elon, if I had said "MAGA DRILLBABYDRILL" he would probably have kicked me out.
So he was generally very sarcastic and acidic in this conversation and I can take a lot from him because of our past, but he definately put me on the defensive through most of it, we talked about other things, all bad, none of which apply to me, and this guy is probably depressed so it went like that, depression energy.
This gave me a window into DEM takes on this DJT EM realm, and it wasn't pretty. It shook me a little and I was like, "naaa I'm just going to stop intaking this stuff but then... I've been watching ASMONGOLD and got to this.

Wouldn't it be more economic to outsource that into the cloud / NVIDIA datacenter and rent a high-end GPU there? With Win12 you can throw the whole thing in the trash again because it won't work for (((reasons)))
Even in a backwater country like Germany we increasingly use HPC with vGPUs, either in the university's own datacenter or for low-level stuff just directly from NVIDIA.

Yes, food prices are crazy but at least you get good quality for your money here. Every discount supermarket carries organic food. There's also some egg shortage here due to Bird Flu but it's not severe. USA is begging for eggs all over Europe right now.
Bought in a dozen, the cheapest eggs cost about 20ct here and are still good quality. Eggs from organic farming about 30ct so it's a no-brainer. As you said it's not a relevant expense.

If I cared about death, wouldn't I care about the deaths going on in Russia and Ukraine? Shouldn't I care about the other 23,380 homicides in the last year in the US? That's 64/day. I read there were 140,000 black children missing in California in the last year. That's 25% of black children, 1 in 4 have gone missing. Granted 1% of those are actually kidnapped but that's still a lot, that's JUST the black ones who only make up 10% of the population. IN ONE YEAR?! Where does this statistic come from and how can it be believed? This would mean all the black children are missing in 4 years. This is impossible.

We get regular "active shooter" training in my day job and when I was first hired it was something like "run, hide, cooperate" when it came to the shooter or other ne'er-do-wells. I always personally felt this was stupid, and I was right. A few years ago they changed it to "find a weapon, run, hide if you can't run, and fight, do not cooperate."
Now it's pretty much what they've been telling people on planes since 9/11, fight, fight, fight.

I learned today that we were very close to having the U.S. travel advisory be classified as level 3, as it is we're level two for crime and terrorism. There are parts of the U.S. that are def. level 3-4 however, virtually any major city Ghetto, you will get ganked, but I couldn't find anything specifically.
Germany is level 2, Singapore is Level 1, safe fucks, and I forget where Kashtan is from, probably just pre-Russian occupation level 1 for now I'd bet.

Yes, actually my friend and his wife got permits recently but this will make you laugh, you can't carry even with a permit into any store without permission of the store owner or without a sign posted that allows it and being a strongly left state/city that's zero chance and can't carry within some distance to parks or schools or beaches, or on transportation, etc. So it's basically worthless. If there was an altercation anywhere you would have a chance to use it, you would then be arrested or fined for carrying in an exclusion zone.

I used to do such things, like 10 shots in a single glass for fun. The highest I went was 151 which was simply called 151. Now there are apparently a lot of 75.5% alcohol varieties I didn't know about.
It was awful ofc. My fav was Grey Goose Vodka straight. But only the top 80% of the bottle, the bottom was so bitter as to be undrinkable.
