Cat listens to the conversation halfheartedly, her mind fixated on food and drink.
Nyaa you think Daran's the culprit Nya? But he gave us cider Nya and that ring Nya! What did he say Nya?

Ashley points out the menu on the wall and considers what to order...
Cat spots the menu
Ah there it is Nya! That price is surprisingly reasonable Nyahaha! I was afraid it would cost a fortune Nya. Well then it's settled Nya. Cider and mutton Nya.
I wonder if both are from Daran Nya? Whatever as long as it's tasty Nya...

Alice Addresses the table.

Hey, does anyone of you know a sorcerer by the name Andras?

She's greeted by staring faces, no one has the foggiest notion of who that might be.

Nyaa you think Daran's the culprit Nya? But he gave us cider Nya and that ring Nya! What did he say Nya?

"Who's what now?" Ashley inquires.

[Interaction Required to address Cat and Ashley's questions]

The waitress arrives to take your orders.

"Hello again, Evangela in case you forgot, what can I get for you?"

"Mutton and cider for me." Ashley says, happy to have some real meat.

Cider and mutton Nya. I wonder if both are from Daran Nya?

Evangela addresses Cat, "Sir Edermath just brought a fresh case of cider. As for the mutton, this weather has killed the field and the animals are starving, so many are culling their herds to save feed costs."

[Interactions and investigations are in order.]

Cat is momentarily saddened by their fate, but not for long
Nyaa the poor animals Nya!
One more reason to eat them Nya! Can't let their meat go to waste Nya!

Alice takes a deep breath, looks at Elmina and Summer, unsure if mentioning too much in their presence was a good idea, and then repeats what she heard from Daran and Daylinn
You know how obsessed he's been with me. The only one who even remotely understood my Greatness. Yet not quite. Otherwise he wouldn't be doing something so foolish.
So we have proof that he's experimenting on my ship and now on me. And that Andras guy probably wants to get hold of me more than Daran. I can see where this is going. I don't doubt they'll even go as far as trying to abduct me. Well fine, that settles it. Not the outcome I had wished for but if it is what Daran wants, I cannot stop his demise. I warned him but I am certain he won't listen.

Alice looks up and smiles, but it is a sad smile.
What a shame. So much knowledge and grace - and yet so little common sense. Elves, no matter of what kind, have always been a tragedy. Always shooting themselves in the foot with their arrogance. They had it all, the entire galaxy in their hands, and they threw it away. They themselves are truly their greatest enemy...

Alice turns to Summer.
Hey, have you really never heard of some master of the Occult named Andras? Maybe he's not a sorcerer after all?
Didn't you want to talk to Master Edermath? I doubt he'll even want to meet you, let alone have you deal with that dragon but maybe nobility is different. In any case, try to squeeze out as much information as possible! I want to know what he has to say about the source of this cold.

There is no proof he's behind it but he appears to have some very troublesome friends. And very troublesome hobbies as well. I want to have a strategy meeting in our room after dinner, not here among all those people. So that's enough for now.

The waitress arrives to take your orders.
"Hello again, Evangela in case you forgot, what can I get for you?"
Alice nods happily
Yep, mutten and cider for me too please!

Yulyas face turns paler the longer she listens
Nonono this cannot be!
He confirmed the rumors himself? I was hoping we could reason with him but this does not look good. We must investigate who this Andras is and what his motives are. Clearly someone extremely powerful is at work here and I doubt there are several masters of the occult at work. At least I hope and pray.
Alice I know it sounds absurd but do you think your entire ship could be used as a focus?

Yes indeed.
Yulya looks around nervously and peers over at Daran as if he could hear them across the Inn.
Ashley will you have your own room or stay with us? We should reserve it in time though I doubt space will run out in this town.

Yet I find this hard to believe. Though peculiar in his manners...
Yulya gives Ashley an apologetic look
...he still welcomed us and this ring was a great gift! Why would he aid us in getting Sir Gundren back and Sir Sildar? Are they part of a faction that opposes Sir Harbin?
He might be after the ship - and ultimately you but that does not necessarily mean he is behind the cold. He seemed unimpressed by the dragon though and if he managed to conduct research at its lair he is either very powerful - or allied with the beast! I was hoping to gain him as an ally - not having to deal with him as an enemy!
Yulya buries her face in her hands
In Eldaths name dont we have enough troubles already?

The waitress arrives to take your orders.
Yulya has troube deciding but finally addresses Evangela
Good evening Miss Evangela!
I shall have the pear cordial and also mutton!

Ashley will you have your own room or stay with us? We should reserve it in time though I doubt space will run out in this town.

"Whatevr, I got used to sleeping on the floor by the fire anyway."

Alice turns to Summer.

Hey, have you really never heard of some master of the Occult named Andras? Maybe he's not a sorcerer after all?

Summer draws a blank.

Didn't you want to talk to Master Edermath?

She takes a sip of cider, "Mhm, Oh I did when I first arrived! He said he didn't care what I did about that dragon, and I quote, 'they can be quite a nuissance' and then he said it would probably move on at the first heat wave of summer." She paused, "Oh! He also said he sold his salvage rights, saying there was nothing of any value to him there. He then advised me not to trouble myself and to just let it work itself out. I asserted my right to any treasure held by the dragon unpon his slaying, not associated with that ship, and he thought that was reasonable and wished me luck."

I want to know what he has to say about the source of this cold.

"Why don't you ask him? He seems like a kind and generous man, he offered me cider and espoused the benefits of having elves in the court. Then of course when I told him I intended to kill the dragon he gave me some of his old scrolls that may help." Summer was slightly slurring her words and lost her track of thought a momemnt, "Oh then Daylinn and I discussed the cold." She thought a bit, "Oh right! He said the cold is 'bothersome and has gone on long enough,' but, 'it does make for good cold pressing.' but that his trees have has enough of it this year but he wasn't concerned."

he still welcomed us and this ring was a great gift! Why would he aid us in getting Sir Gundren back and Sir Sildar? Are they part of a faction that opposes Sir Harbin?

Elmina weighs in, "Sir Harbin is worse than a dragon, I'd rather have the one over the other! Daran is a pillar of this community, a supplier of produce and delicious cider, one of the few luxuries we have here, he raised this community from bones and ashes and has protected us from raids and bandits in the past. When a gang of ne'erdowells tried to establish themselves as a local milita under their own authority and demanded tribute and protection money, he ran them out." She began to get heated, "to suggest he's doing anything but helping this town is proposterous! He neither wants to kindap anyone nor would he associate with anyone who would! Now as for the Rockseeker brothers and their associates, we've had only good dealings with them, their mine is why we're all here, without that we'd have no hope for a prosperous future. Again, Daren would only benefit from this. The disruption of the trade routes has been the bane of our existence and this cold is just another troublesome hassle. Whatever or whoever caused this, if they're involded with Daren at all, must have done so for good reason and let us all pray it is resolved soon." She bangs the table with her small fist and Summer rubs her back consolingly.

Ashley's not convinced.
Alice takes this VERY personally
Fine, I understand...
I reported what I had witnessed, I tried to be helpful. I shall not make this mistake again.

Nonono this cannot be! ... Alice I know it sounds absurd but do you think your entire ship could be used as a focus?
How would I know? I don't even know how a focus works! But ths ship was originally created by people who could not use magic and tried to resist it. So - unlikely.

Summer takes a sip of cider, "Mhm, Oh I did when I first arrived! He said he didn't care what I did about that dragon, and I quote, 'they can be quite a nuissance' and then he said it would probably move on at the first heat wave of summer." She paused, "Oh! I asserted my right to any treasure held by the dragon unpon his slaying, not associated with that ship, and he thought that was reasonable and wished me luck."
He sold my ship?
How nice I hear such a minor detail on the way out!

"Why don't you ask him?
Well excuse me for not being a mage of noble descent!
Do you understand I am merely something like this to that man?
Alice takes out the Greater Healing Potion
Do you converse with your potions or scrollls? No? Well neither will he!

Whatever or whoever caused this, if they're involded with Daran at all, must have done so for good reason and let us all pray it is resolved soon."
Of course there is a good and obvious reason! Why would anyone bother with such a huge area effect otherwise? But I guess Master Edermath was right. The issue will sooner or later resolve itself. And it will not be my problem. It will be - yours! I'm done with this, I don't care anymore!

Dinner soon arrives
Alice stands up, takes the plate in both hands and shoves it into her mouth. Pulling it out perfectly clean, she slams the plate on the table, downs the cider in one go - and leaves.
Well then, I shall not bother the ladies with my nonsensical babble or my inferior presence any further! Good Night!

Alice goes to Toblen to rent a room and hides under the bed, sulking

Yulia is left to manage yet another unmanageable situation
Oh dear...
Please excuse her it has been a long day of walking and she really is not good with that cold. And even worse with not being taken seriously.
I honestly have no idea what to make of this entire situation. We did make the same experience with Sir Edermath as Summer and he told us the same. If he does not object to our quest of dealing with the dragon that is good news. But Alices ship is another matter. I feel this will cause us far greater trouble than that dragon. And that means something...
We can only move step-by-step. We will deal with the mine first and then see where this takes us.

Yulya starts eating her dinner and although delicious but it has a bitter aftertaste

Alice's drama occurs, Elmina and Summer look at each other awkwardly, Elmina speaks, "I really don't know anything about the ship, it's not something I can comment on."

Summer asks, "Is she okay?"

Please excuse her it has been a long day of walking and she really is not good with that cold. And even worse with not being taken seriously.

What happened Nya I wasn't paying attention Nya!

Ashley rsponds, "She thinks what she's talking about is important anyway, I just don't believe it. We have important, daadly, dangerous, life ending things to do that we can help, worrying about world ending warnings about something we can't help is a little much."

We can only move step-by-step. We will deal with the mine first and then see where this takes us.

The rest of dinner is uneventful.

Ashley, says "I guess I'll get my own room after all, see ya all down here in the morning."

[If you have any further questions for Daren, Summer, Elmina etc, now's the time. Interactions required.]

Ashley, says "I guess I'll get my own room after all, see ya all down here in the morning."
Yulya nods with a sigh
Alright then Good Night and see you tomorrow Ashley!
I shall try to resolve the matter with Alice. I have my ways.

After dinner Yulya says her goodbye to Elmina and Summer
Despite all it was a pleasure dining with you and I hope to see you again after we return from the mine! Let us all look for answers and exchange our findings when we meet again!

Yulya bows and leaves. She decides to talk to Daran despite her anxiety. It is up to Cat if she wants to join
Cautiously as if wading through a mine-field Yulya approaches Daran and Daylinn in hope of being noticed.
Good evening Sir Edermath and Miss Daylinn!
I just wanted to thank you again for this ring which has proven very valuable. And I apologize if my party member has bothered you. She has had a hard day and is not good with the cold. Neither do I seek to bother you but I also wanted to inquire if you managed to determine the source of this cold which has caused so much trouble here. I heard a lot of sheep needed to be culled due to lack of food!

We have now been tasked by the Rockseeker brothers to investigate the mine. They said it had been taken over by something foul. I have heard rumors of giant spiders! Would you know anything about it?

This will be the easy task before we will accompany Miss Summer of Leilon to slay the dragon. I do not know why she is so adamant about it if this dragon is not even the source of this cold? I wonder how we will manage. Do you have some advice for novices like us in dealing with such a beast? I have heard you have been to its lair? Is the path to the mountains even accessible in this awful weather? I have been in the area once before the cold set in and that was a hard enough journey...

Yulya keeps talking to overplay her anxiety hoping to extract some sort of useful information from Daran.

Cat doesn't really get what's going on but isn't overly concerned
Nyaa don't worry Nya we'll find out who's behind it all Nya!

Cat says goodnight to anyone.
Nyaa I'm dead tired Nya. Time to go to sleep Nya!

Cat follows Yulya and finds herself in a conversation with Daran. Much like at his orchard, Cat waits until things are over without much input staring into nothingness, already half asleep

Alice sits alone in a dark room, dark thoughts spinning through her mind. She has become apathetic, her Charisma has dropped by 4, she has disadvantage on charisma based checks and dexterity checks on initiative. The condition will remain without intervention, but will improve after intervention and a long rest.]

[Saturday, Spring 22, 20:30, -1C a light snow has begun]

Alright then Good Night and see you tomorrow Ashley!

"Good luck with the kido." She waves as she leaves for her room.

Despite all it was a pleasure dining with you and I hope to see you again after we return from the mine! Let us all look for answers and exchange our findings when we meet again!

Elmina gives a half-hearted wave.

Summer stands and says, "I should be back in two days or so, so when you're finished with your current quest, we'll strategize! Good night!" She waves and sits back down to return to chatting with Elmina.

Good evening Sir Edermath and Miss Daylinn!

They turn on their bar stools to greet her cordially, with the juxtaposition piercing eyes and friendly smiles. Elves are nothing if not enigmatic.

I just wanted to thank you again for this ring which has proven very valuable. And I apologize if my party member has bothered you.

Daylinn waves her off, batting away her words, Daran has a word to say, "Yes well I can't fault you for her design if you weren't personally involved. Can it be trained is my question and if so then you have your work cut out for you."

She has had a hard day and is not good with the cold. Neither do I seek to bother you but I also wanted to inquire if you managed to determine the source of this cold which has caused so much trouble here. I heard a lot of sheep needed to be culled due to lack of food!

Daran considers her words carefully, "Yes, that's something that I have no control over though I still believe it will pass eventually as the spring progresses. In the North this weather wouldn't be out of place though the flora and fauna here do not appreciate and we didn't think of needing to keep enough supply of feed this far into spring. This is all fine however, we will make things stretch, the meat can be preserved so there's no loss there, but wool production next year will suffer, it's a minor concern." He speaks with a comfortable, genuine and easy tone, though the cider may have helped that.

We have now been tasked by the Rockseeker brothers to investigate the mine. They said it had been taken over by something foul. I have heard rumors of giant spiders! Would you know anything about it?

He turns to Daylinn and they both chuckle, "Giant spiders you say? And what would giant spiders eat in an abandoned mine? Giant flies? No, no that's about as silly as an Orc Wizard. What's in the mine? I'd guess displaced goblins, orcs amassing for a raid against Phandalin, that isn't out of the question, in fact there was a recent disappearance." He turns to Daylinn, "Tel' shemlen maniferril?"

"Tel' shemlen? Col nesh al adoe", she said with concern.

"My guess would be orcs, and they may have chosen a princess." He was noticeably disgusted. "Though it's really none of my concern, orcs don't sit well with me, and so let's see, what would be tolerable, ears? Eyes? Toes? Tongues! Have your ward collect their tongues, for every orc tongue I'll give you a gold coin and you can also keep the tongues."

Daylinn laughed darkly at the silliness of his arbitrary decision.

Daran adds, "I don't remember who the girl belongs to but they'll likely appreciate the return of their family member."

Daylinn puts a hand on Daren's chest, "there were two!"

"Ah, this is yet another annoying consequence of not having a walled city, we should really erect a palisade at least," He speaks to himself.

This will be the easy task before we will accompany Miss Summer of Leilon to slay the dragon. I do not know why she is so adamant about it if this dragon is not even the source of this cold? I wonder how we will manage. Do you have some advice for novices like us in dealing with such a beast?

"The cold has good reason and I won't say more about it, yes it all ties together, there are forces at work here beyond even my comprehension, as for dragons, they can be quite potent and its proximity is an issue for us as it will eventually come by and take sheep when its hungry, though this one seems to like cattle, again, none of my concern. It should know better then to go after my sheep, dragons are brutish but at least they're intelligent. Oh, they're horrifically arrogant and complacent. To be slain by a group of iron plates would be unheard of, frankly I would advise you against trying, though if you run when you realize the task you shouldn't lose more than one or two. I'm beyond trying to convince others about common sense. It would be quite a shame if Summer died, for a shemlen she's quite well refined."

Daylinn agreed, they were quite impressed by Summer's couth manners.

I have heard you have been to its lair? Is the path to the mountains even accessible in this awful weather? I have been in the area once before the cold set in and that was a hard enough journey...

He looked somewhat uncomfortable about your question, "Yes, I was there several times before and after the snowfall, the dragon has holed up in the artifact. Whether it's accessible or not depends, but with snowshoes you should be able to walk there, the snow has accumulated and is showing no sign of melting. I will tell you that there's nothing there to gain, the artifact is... well it's no longer my concern and it's in safe hands."[/i]

Daylinn leans forward to Yulya, "Oh yes, don't worry about that. If you insist on taking out that dragon, stop there and count your blessings. I am certain this weather will clear soon, it's in good hands."

[Interactions required only for Yulya, you may continue this conversation all you like the night is still early. Though I'd like Cat to at least post a bored picture or something. I will offer a hint: a bartender is historically a wealth of information.]
