I want to see US and Russia as friends, I want to see us as sharing traditional values against crime and PVP fucking servers at 7-11 and Target. Oh and El Salvador, they've completely cleaned up their country. I'll take complete overbearing oppression over car jackings, rapes and home invasions every day.

Those statistics are mostly nonsense because 'Homicide' has different definition in other countries. Also you gotta consider the state of health care. A victim that would have died in a shithole country easily survives here getting flown into intensive care by helicopter.
2024 homicide rate in Germany was also 0.9 but it depends on where you look. In Berlin it's 1.6, in the countryside about 0.2. Murders mostly happen in large cities. In the 90s Germany had a homicide rate of almost 2. US also had rates of almost 10 in the 90s. It's not like everything is going downhill.

we still have a problem with domestic violence and drunk hobo druggies bashing each others heads in but i feel much safer here than in any german city. violent crime against strangers is rare. cant remember hearing about home invasions carjacking terrorism gang shootings or something like that. things were wild in the 90s after soviet union collapsed but now everything is very orderly. problems are in certain circles but it usually doesnt affect outsiders.

i know youre american but please understand you cannot be friends with russia. didnt work in ww2 wont work now. they have no concept of friendship. theres a saying here the only thing worse than having russia a an enemy is having russia as a friend. we havent forgotten what they did to their allied neighbor states in warsaw pact. it was occupation terror and genocide. and dont forget youre russias and putins enemy number one. russia doesnt wage war against ukraine. it wages war against west. against you and your way of life. theyre eternally butthurt about losing cold war and their status as superpower. and since they cant accomplish that they try to ruin the us and europe. if you wanna live in a totalitarian shithole you might as well go to china. at least not an utterly lawless mafia state like putins russia.

meanwhile here the government is training civilians in building and operating drones. the entire country in preparing for war because russian friendship may soon come to us.
