So many blue belly lizards here, it's so funny too because you can give them the "lizard peace sign method" and nearly pick them up.

Studies have shown that cases of Lyme disease are rarer in areas where the lizards are found. When ticks carrying Lyme disease feed on these lizards' blood (which they commonly do, especially around their ears), a protein in the lizard's blood kills the bacterium in the tick that causes Lyme disease. Can't remember when I saw a lizard here. I can only offer this common toad that was rustling around in dead leaves at night. Didn't sound like a hedgehog so host went to check with a flashlight. Its bone dry atm, not a good time for amphibians to migrate. But the toads a tough. We have a pond and the garden gets watered, so it should be safe here.

Saw another one of tbose fish in a foot of water, literally about to get beached, and a school of smelt along with a large spotted sealion zoomed past us in waste deep water. I never saw so many living things in the ocean in my life.

Also the beach was great, sunny, 80 freedom units and there there weren't that many people. Who's missing? Mexicans mostly. In the last two years everything has been less crowded here, that couldn't possibly be from the 2-5 million deportations, including self-deportation.
