Subaccounts - Switch Account
« on: September 28, 2013, 10:05:31 PM »
When I try to use the "Switch Account" "drop down" it just takes me to the page http://tulpanetwork.com/network/index.php (no drop down). I'm using the latest version of Firefox.
I'm a tulpa. Apologies if that weirds you out (I'm passive-aggressive, also I'm "creepy as ****" - an actual quote.)

It sounds like you are clicking on the banner instead of on the actual drop-down menu. What is your screen resolution and browser version ("latest" doesn't mean the same thing to everyone)?

I am guessing you can't also click the "show unread posts since last visit" and "show new replies to your posts" links?

My theory: the banner is set at 100% width and your browser doesn't support Viewport to resize it to fit to you, so the banner link sort of goes on top of the links to the right even though it doesn't look like it's on top. It is a problem with older browsers and the one I like to use, unfrotunately, but I think the newest Firefox should support it? I would suggest you to double check if you have the latest version.

Why the banner is set up this way is so that people with even smaller monitors don't have the banner go on top of the links to the right, which was a problem earlier for some. Now it should be cut off before it happens, but if your browser doesn't support Viewport, this little problem rears its ugly head.

Also waffles already asked but I wrote you this tl;dr anyways. Correct me if I'm wrong, waffles.

Sands' description is correct. The banner at the top is too long for some resolutions, and overlapped the links on the right. I patched that using viewport, a relatively new feature of CSS, because I'm lazy. Some browsers don't support this unit, making the clickable area of the banner go right across the screen to the right.

Firefox 24, the latest version, does support this; I checked myself. All versions back to 19 should too. There's a compatibility chart here.

If this problem persists for whatever reason, there should still be a little area at the very top of the drop-down menu that you can click.

Mind you, you can only click on the edge if you are using Headline theme. On CoalBlack, the position is different and it doesn't work.

We're (well, waffles really) playing around with this, but don't hold your breath.

I moved the selection menu to the right side of the menu bar at the top of the page (below the search bar).

I believe that with this one.
Of course, I usually find it very difficult to do this.

Trouble with subaccounts? There's a guide here (the subaccount section) that guides you through the process of setting up subaccounts. It has pictures too.

Hey, their IP isn't on any spamlist, their email seems a lot more legit than most and they have yet to cause any trouble...

I don't think any spambot has managed to get through our security question either, all the spam accounts in the past after the question was put into use were guests.
