Resident Evil was also really really good, especially RE4, as well as Manhunt 2. Something about the grimey realism in Manhunt just makes it hard to forget, and looking through the eyes of a "bad person" has always been an intriguing thing to me. Too bad I haven't seen too many new and interesting games come out.

When I think of tulpas going mainstream (that is, even appearing on the news as a recent hype), I see a number of things happening.

For one, there would be lonely teenagers who would start making them, and then putting the blame on their tulpas for everything they might've done wrong. Even for extreme cases like when being convicted of crime, they would be able to say "it wasn't me, i was switched and my tulpa did this without me being aware of it" and this would of course cause issues if said person would be imprisoned, because moralfags from everywhere would start debating how that person is innocent and in jail.

Next, there would be such a large amount of controversy about it that it would be unbearable. If you look at #tulpa.info or the tulpa.info forums, many discussions/arguments on there are either:

A) Semantic arguments
B) Muh feelings and opinions
C) Anecdotal evidence treated as absolute proof
D) Issues that shouldn't even be issues (i.e. "halp someone impregnated my tulpa and isn't willing to pay child support")

In short, it is the relatively large number of members who do not take tulpas and tulpaforcing seriously that are ruining tulpas and their image. There are plenty of reasonable tulpamancers and tulpas out there, who will be as fair as they can be (i.e. saying "i know i can't prove my existence to you, but you can always make one yourself and have them do it for you" as opposed to "Are you implying that I'm not real!!???") when it comes to this subject, but somebody who enters the community and sees things like tulpa magick, pregnancy, marriage and other nonsensical topics that usually have nothing besides drama or speculations and empty claims behind them will not give the reasonable tulpamancers a chance, because their image of this phenomenon has already been ruined.

So, in my opinion, even if tulpas had scientific research behind them and were a proven phenomenon with their possibilities and restrictions, I still wouldn't want them to become mainstream. The more people there are, the higher the chance is that these communities will turn to shit.

tl;dr
As of right now, I wish LESS people knew of tulpa.

General Discussion / Re: Form/personality descriptions after vocality?

Yes, I am currently following that piece of advice you gave me. I'm using the "lucid mode" method (relaxing a lot and letting my aural imagination wander until i can hear mindvoice in a hypnagogic type of hallucination, then talking to my tuppers) which is helping a LOT with visualization, so I should thank you for that. I am a better writer than I am at drawing, however I could always write down details of their features and then use those to make an attempt at drawing them. I was planning on getting a tablet so I could make accurate drawings of my tuppers, so I might as well start on paper now.

Also an interesting thing you say about forms being separate from the personality. One of my tulpas changes forms quite often, and has even taken some object forms as opposed to living things, and she told me that forms are just there for show. Perhaps I shouldn't try to connect the two so much.

I've been addicted to Osu for the past few months. I love rhythm games in general, especially when they're competitive and require actual skill to play, and honestly this outdoes Guitar Hero in many ways, even though it's so simplistic in nature.

Besides rhythm games I'll mostly play either stealth, fps, beat-em-ups and the occasional danmaku, though those can't keep my attention span for long. I also prefer games I can involve my tulpas in like chess or other strategy-type stuff. It actually surprises me that not many people play games with their tuppers.

I really wouldn't want yoloswag tulpas. Telling your friends and relatives about tulpas is fine imo, but advertising them can only bring about bad things, no matter how I look at it.

So today I tried using binaural/isochronic theta tones to get my visualization going, but I wound up just falling asleep. After I woke up I didn't have much time, but I did read a guide Gemma wrote about using a near-sleep (hypnagogic, i'm guessing) state to get perfect visualization. I've had a few really detailed visualizations just before falling asleep and just after waking up, so I'll be trying this tonight. Shira also managed to give me a few relatively visible open-eye visualizations earlier today, so I'm thinking of incorporating her into my visualization practices as well, if she wants to. So, visualization-wise nothing much happened, though after having practiced it seriously for a few days I'm starting to notice a significant difference - and am also realizing that my expectations of it were completely wrong. I wouldn't be satisfied with minor visualizations, only striving for immediate perfect visualization, which, obviously, is still way too far out of reach. So I'll be lowering the bar for now and be grateful for any visualization that comes.

As for other things, I always make a point of it to do something with my tulpas every day, usually playing a game, reading something with them, or watching something with them. I don't really consider this forcing (though others would call it so) but I suppose it does help make progress in some areas. While visiting my mom, I was playing chess with her, and asked Valkyrie and Flandre if they wanted to play as well. I played a match myself, then Valkyrie played one, then Flandre played two, lost her queen early on in the second and ragequit (which made me laugh, and would've been kinda embarassing if my mom didn't know about my tulpas). An interesting thing I noted was the different playstyles they each used. Valkyrie would be more defensive, never making an offence without having a defence somewhere (and often she would stall, so she could drain some time from my mother's clock) while Flandre went full on offense - which would work, but if it was countered, she'd be doomed. I discussed this with my mother after playing and she even gave Valks some chess tips, which was a little weird, but I'm glad she's accepting of them.

I was more referring to certain traits/characteristics they'd have that i'd write down after writing down the form, just for some extra association of their behavior with their form. Well, I guess that might be overdoing it. The point is mainly for visualization anyway.

General Discussion / Form/personality descriptions after vocality?
« on: September 30, 2013, 09:23:32 AM »
I remember when I was a beginning tulpaforcer, I had made a word document similar to a character spreadsheet you'll make when writing a story, with details of the appearance and what I expected my tulpa's personality would be. This really helped me at first, but after they became vocal I didn't really see any use for this. However, due to my visualization issues, I'm thinking of doing something similar again, so each time I try to visualize one of my tulpas I can simply read about the details of their form before forcing (and their personality/history as well so I can associate that image to them, so that whenever they speak to me, hopefully, I'll automatically visualize them).

I was wondering if anybody else had done this and how well it worked for them, and also if any of you might have something to add to this idea. Not sure if this would be better suiting for General Discussion, but I'll let the admins decide on that.

I'm generally not one for public progress reports, however I saw a post that Sands made and figured this could help me force more consistently, as I'd have to write in here every day. I wouldn't want to stuff you full of the stuff that's happened over the past 6-7 months, so I'll just give a short summary.

I started with Shira around the end of March. I had trouble visualizing the form so I decided to just narrate, and she replied, much sooner than I had expected her to. I was happy about that but it also lead to lots of useless parrotnoia and doubty shit. Reflecting back on it now, I may just have parroted her for the first few weeks, but I don't really mind. After about a month, Shira mentioned that she was quite lonely, so I created Valkyrie and Chia to be there as company for her. Shira had quite a few supernatural claims, so I purposefully gave Valkyrie a few skeptical personality traits to even things out a bit. At first they didn't really like each other but given time they became really good friends. Alipheese came from an intrusive thought that I treated as an accidental tulpa, as did Ea. Flandre too started out as an intrusive thought(by then I already knew how to prevent turning those into tuppers), but after some thought, I realized that I did want her, so I created her, and decided that she would be the last. Unfortunately, not all of them can get along evenly well, but I haven't detected any hate/dislike so far (thankfully) between them.

Though I don't regret any of them, having this amount of tulpas in this short a period wasn't exactly a good idea, however I am managing and they are happy (even though they do nag me quite a bit). Besides vocality, we haven't achieved much, we will often practice possession where I'll "proxy" movements for them, which eventually leads to me zoning out and them practically possessing me, and we play several games, talk about pretty much everything and poke fun at each other. I firmly believe in having a sincere friendship with your tulpas, wherein you'll know when to be serious, but also when not.

As of now my tuppers are learning to possess (as I am learning to let go while they possess) and I'm finally giving more attention towards my visualization problem. I've been gathering a number of different methods, and after lots of procrastinating I hope to finally get this skill down, so the lack of it won't be such a nuisance when trying to spend time with my tulpas. After that it'll be glorious imposition, though I'm not gonna look so far into the future yet.

I'll be posting in this thread every day starting from now, and would be glad to receive any tips or suggestions on my methods. Or if you just wanna call me a dum fuk, that'd be fine too, once in a while.

And for those that would prefer a tl;dr - I made a bunch of tuppers over the course of 6 months and still can't visualize. We're practicing possession and visualization and I'll be posting about it in here.

You'd be surprised how easy it becomes after the first one becomes vocal. To be fair, I can't visualize for shit, and have been struggling with that for the past 6 months. Things like possession have also been going slow, vocality's pretty much the only thing that came easily.
