Well cat sleeps when I sleep, so I don't wake up to it. I just get to listen to it when I wake up so he can wake up too. Good thing the squeak is a pretty soft sound - and it's cute to watch him murder what he might think is a living thing with such vigor.

I gave cat a toy. It's like, a mouse and it makes sounds? Good thing they finally realized cats don't really squeeze toys and this one doesn't have to be squeezed to make a squeaky sound, you just have to move it. And it's a pretty soft sound luckily. Still I wonder if the neighbors enjoy this squeak, squ-squeak squeaksqueaksqueak in the middle of the night.

Excellent work cat.
Making sure to get a healthy cat (as far as you can know, hard to do with rescues but legit breeders will test their kittens for most common stuff), feeding them a good diet and making sure they get vaccinated against whatever is an issue in your country helps a lot. I don't really spend all that much on the vet bills even though I go get the cat's teeth cleaned every few years.
Then again I probably spend a lot on the food. :>
