"Huh? Are you reading my mind or something?" Ashley never mentioned a book, it was a suggestion from me.
Yulya awkwardly looks at the audience and quickly tries to cover up the plot hole

Ermm obviously we cannot have Cat pull our cart forever and you mentioned having one of your summons pull it. I wonder if you can learn new summons from books though? But I agree this is probably out of our reach just like converting my staff. So let us forget about that.

*akward silence*

I really want to buy more of that candy for 1sp! A lot that would be nice!

Cat is pleased by the meal
Nyaa that's a good fish Nya and the Ale too Nya! Not cheap but good Nya!

Cat does some quick calculations on expenses.
Nya I'm surprised Nya, even after Alice's blunder Nya and all our purchases Nya we should have a lot of money left Nya! We should buy equipment Nya our improve the one we have Nya!
I'd say Nya, tomorrow morning we will go shopping for food Nya and look for weapons Nya and the cart Nya. Then Alice Nya and me Nya cook rations Nya while you buy and sell the rest Nya!

Alice sips on her tea and is pleasantly surprised for a change, which does not happen too often
Well what do you know? It turned out to be a good day after all.
It's really fish this time! Not like the leek at Toblen's...
And it looks like I'll get my wofl cloak after all!

Well, I'm tired. We should go to sleep soon. We have a lot to buy and cook tomorrow.

[Sunday, Spring 16, 22:00, Clear 9C]

Ashley enjoyed her Redberry which had a spicey kick to it, as well as her Quippers which were light and flakey with a crisp outer crust that was quite delightful and gave 3sp to the waitress.

Alice's meal was similar, the local tea rivaled the poison for flavor and had a similar after-taste.

Yulya's order of redberry juice, 5 dough rings and a scone for 1sp 7cp came with an extra dough ring, the rings were light and fluffy, quite tasteless in all if not a hint of butter. The scone was a rough bread, a little heavy, and tasted of gooseberries. All in all not bad.

Cat's ale was quite nice, it was a tad bitter and very flat, but smooth.

The total was 7sp, 8cp for everyone minus Ashley.

After dinner, feeling warm and fuzzy, you all meander back to the guild and to your room.

Optional Interactions

The stroll back to the guild is uneventful, there's no one out on the roads.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHkpL50bXUk

The room is cozy, you've seen similar rooms and the fireplace is lit for an inviting warmth.

Ashley rolls out the bedrolls and stacks them, then adds the throw pillow from the chair and a spare blanket, positioning it near the fireplace, she summons Mr. Bigglesworth and pulls him in her arms like a stuffy.

[Optional Interactions]

"Goodnight" She lays on her bed and rakes her fingernails through Mr. B's hair causing him to purr like a fast slightly out of balance motor, in minutes she's asleep and Mr. B is left staring out to the room like a sentinel.

[Required Interactions]

[I'm awaiting the final buy/sell updated list so the next scene will be waking up and going shopping. If I understand it correctly, Yulya has summarized the logistics of who doing what in the Meta thread, so that's clear, I just need a final blessed list.]

What a nice peaceful and surprisingly warm night! And nobody around. I wish it was always like that...

Ashley rolls out the bedrolls and stacks them, then adds the throw pillow from the chair and a spare blanket, positioning it near the fireplace, she summons Mr. Bigglesworth and pulls him in her arms like a stuffy.
Yulya takes the bed with Cat and cant help but smile at Ashley with her purring stuffy. She puts her clothes and blanket under the bed so Alice has some bedding.
That was another eventful bed but I am glad it turned out well! Goodnight everyone!

Cat licks her paws on the way home through empty streets
That was good Nya and like this I like cities Nya!

Cat takes the bed with Yulya and quickly falls asleep to the pleasant purring sounds. She starts kneading the bed in her sleep

Alice warms herself at the fireplace before retreating under the bed hiding in a pile of clothes

Ashley rolls out the bedrolls and stacks them, then adds the throw pillow from the chair and a spare blanket, positioning it near the fireplace, she summons Mr. Bigglesworth and pulls him in her arms like a stuffy.
Alice watches the scene from under the bed.
Hey, that looks nice! Can I have Mrs. Bigglesworth pls?

"Goodnight" She lays on her bed and rakes her fingernails through Mr. B's hair causing him to purr like a fast slightly out of balance motor, in minutes she's asleep and Mr. B is left staring out to the room like a sentinel.
Goodnight to you!

Alice's day is not over.
She starts clening Yulya's clothes, then a pseudopod extends from under the bed and goes over the sleeping Cat and Yulya

Alice notice a rhythmic scratching sound from above
Heyy Cat, don't claw the mattress or we'll cause another commotion if you shred it!

Seeing Mr. Bigglesworth staring into the darkness. Alice regurgitates the Jade Frog. Using her pseudopod, she makes it emerge from under the bed in subtle jerky movements, mimicking a mouse to attract the cat's attention.

[Monday, Spring 17, 0545]

Sunlight pierces the shutters periodically as clouds pass, the night was a chilly 9C, not unexpected this time of year in Neverwinter, you'd never know from within these walls that there was ever a problem anywhere in Faerûn, and such things were for adventurers and traders to worry about.

Ashley awakens and dismisses Mr. Bigglesworth with a loud pop and streches with a yawn, "Ummm, 15 minutes till shops open, busy day ahead, up and at 'em!"

Everyone readies for a big day of shopping and cooking, Ashley isn't sure where all the shops are, "Okay, let's get the cart first, a pull cart is a lot cheaper I bet, the mules we'll pick up when we leave, but let's get them pre-ordered and held for us. We should put the cargo that Harbin and Hobby want in the cart and take that back here. I think we can drag into the back side of the guild storage room, I saw other carts and junk in there, then Alice and Cat can cook. We'll get something from the confectioner or bakery for breakfast while we're out, let's go!" Ashley seems satisfied with her order of business and stops while she's ahead.

...

You stop downstairs just as the guild is opening and wave to Elizabeth and Freya who are busy putting the chairs down.

"Off on your next adventure?" Freya asks.

"Just shopping today, we'll probably leave tomorrow."

She nods confidently, "How do you feel this morning?"

"I can't say any different, so that's good I guess." Ashley waves, "see ya."

...

The brisk morning air feels nice on warm cheeks, and the shops are all opening as you pass, Ashley goes into the bakery first, eyeing some fresh bread and scrumptious pastries, she talks to the baker. [Persuasion 1d20+6=25]

The baker chuckles at Ashley's plucky personality and persuasive tactics, literally owned by her skill, and brings up 8 'dream pastries' literally the most expensive pastries in the shop.

"I hope they're worth it. You really don't know what they do?" Ashley says as she takes the 8 pastries in a neat box. She then counts out 8 gold and hands it to the baker. "They're not made from the bones of a child or the poison from a blow frog are they?"

"I should say not!" The baker chuckles, "And I don't know their effects, I've never tried one myself but I've only heard good things and I'll guarantee your money back, but at the discounted price of course, I can't believe I'm letting these go for that, but you are off to slay a giant spider and a dragon, I can't let you go without them."

"How long do these last? How long is the effect?"

"Weeks m'lady, at least, they're not ordinary fare. As for the effects, that's a little odd as I'm not a magic user, I just bake the ingredients, but I was told it should last until its effects are used up."

"Thanks." Ashley turns to the group and hands out one each, "breakfast on the go. but in exchange, you all buy everything else like the mule and cart and stuff. I want a carriage and I need to save up for that, but we won't get that far if we die. Summer said we should get these and eat them, I'm not sure exactly what they're supposed to do and neither does the baker apparently."

[Required interactions]

They're absolutely heavenly, sweet, savory, delectable, crisp, light, and melt in your mouth, you feel invigorated and free from all worries. Ashley stores 4 in her bag 'for later'.

The confectioner's is next door and candies are purchased. The next stop was the coach shop next to the stables. There they had beasts of many kinds including oxen, bulls, buffalo, donkeys, mules, horses, and giant crested birds called Filolials.

"Whoa, how much are those?" Ashley asked the tender.

He smiled with a twinkle in his eye "Ah, you have a good eye for quality, they're strong pullers, as strong as a draft horse, but sadly, if you have to ask, they're not for sale. I'm just keeping them for the prince and princess of Leilon, who've just come in this morning to visit our queen."

"Huh. Well here's the deal, we're looking for Donkeys, I mean Mules, just two and we're going to need everything like side bags, feeding bags, and feed, leads, that sort of thing, you know the drill."

"Ah, are you looking for them to pull anything in particular?"

Ashley explained the situation and then stopped and asked the group, "We're getting two mules and a pull cart for us to pull, not them right?"

[Interactions required][We've run out of time today to continue this, so you can interact with this for now, we will continue writing tomorrow and post the second half after we've heard from everyone. The money will all be settled after all shops are visited, the idea is to release Cat and Alice to do their cooking after the heavy things are purchased like Harbin and Hobby's supplies and the feed and food then Cat can take it to the guild with Alice and begin cooking. Yulya and Ashley will continue shopping for the rest.]

Cat awakens fresh and clean but a bit moist
Nyaah good morning Nya that was a good night Nya!
Cat paws under the bed to get Alice and Yulya's clothes out

Everyone readies for a big day of shopping and cooking, Ashley isn't sure where all the shops are, "Okay, let's get the cart first, a pull cart is a lot cheaper I bet, the mules we'll pick up when we leave, but let's get them pre-ordered and held for us. Ohh thank you Ashley Nya that looks interesting Nya!
Dream pastries Nya never heard of that Nya I couldn't make anything like that Nya baking sweets isn't my expertise Nya...
Cat graciously takes the pastry in her giant paws and happily eats it as a whole

The next stop was the coach shop next to the stables. There they had beasts of many kinds including oxen, bulls, buffalo, donkeys, mules, horses, and giant crested birds called Filolials.

Nyaa what beautiful animals Nya I have never seen such Nya I bet they must b worth a fortune Nya!

>no Mrs. Bigglesworth
>no Mr. Bigglesworth
Boo, you're no fun at all!
Alice hides under the pile of clothes underneath the bed, sulking until she falls asleep.

In the middle of the night, Alice experiences a nightmare about the previous events.
The ball of goo and clothes jumps up under the bed while mumbling incoherently

No, no!
50 gold...
For cleaning...
Give it back you damn wizard!

The goo relaxes and spreads out again, falling in deep but only partly restful sleep...

Cat paws under the bed to get Alice and Yulya's clothes out
Alice isn't happy being dragged out into the cold morning air
Noo, lemme sleep!
Nobody listens to me, nobody takes me seriously!
Everyone's mean to meee!

You stop downstairs just as the guild is opening and wave to Elizabeth and Freya who are busy putting the chairs down.
Freya nods confidently,
"How do you feel this morning?"

The baker chuckles, "I can't believe I'm letting these go for that, but you are off to slay a giant spider and a dragon, I can't let you go without them."
Alice's eyes narrow
Giant spider? What giant spider? Nobody said anything about a spider, that's the first time I'm hearing this!

Ashley turns to the group and hands out one each, "breakfast on the go. but in exchange, you all buy everything else like the mule and cart and stuff. I want a carriage and I need to save up for that, but we won't get that far if we die. Summer said we should get these and eat them, I'm not sure exactly what they're supposed to do and neither does the baker apparently."
Mehh...
Okthx...
Alice hesitantly takes the pastry and nibbles on it like a squirrel while looking left and right.
Hey this is actually good! Not sure yet it's word a gold coin but probably?
Alice's mood has improved somewhat

The next stop was the coach shop next to the stables. There they had beasts of many kinds including oxen, bulls, buffalo, donkeys, mules, horses, and giant crested birds called Filolials.
Alice looks at the strange animals from all sides, especially their ears, before turning her attention to the giant birds
Fi-loli-als??
What are those? Never even heard of such birds but they do look cute! Even if they don't have ears...
Can they fly?

they're not for sale. I'm just keeping them for the prince and princess of Leilon, who've just come in this morning to visit our queen."
Alice's eyes narrow again and she turns to the others.
Prince and Princess of Leilon!?
Hey, I bet this has something to do with Summer they're here!

Cat is ready to inspect the animals to see if they are suitable for the adventure.
Make sure they have nice ears!

Yulya wakes up clean and in high spirits
Sleeping in a real bed sure is nice! Cat can you hand me my clothes from under the bed?

Alice isn't happy being dragged out into the cold morning air
Noo, lemme sleep!
Nobody listens to me, nobody takes me seriously!
Everyone's mean to meee!
Yulya sighs with a kind smile as she looks at the pitiful alien
Come on Alice!
I know you had a hard day yesterday but let us go shopping in the city! The weather is nice and I am sure you will see a lot of interesting things!
Yulya peels her freshly clean clothes from Alice and dresses herself and Alice up before carrying her downstairs

You stop downstairs just as the guild is opening and wave to Elizabeth and Freya who are busy putting the chairs down.
Yulya hesitates then bows to both
I apologize agin for the trouble yesterday!
But I assure you Alice has good intentions and being her is not easy. Just look at her!
Yulya presents the unhappy grumbling and near sobbing parody of a girl like an oversized stuffed animal

Alice's eyes narrow
Giant spider? What giant spider? Nobody said anything about a spider, that's the first time I'm hearing this!
Yulya turns to Ashley
Same for me. Do you know anything about this we do not Ashley?

Ashley says as she takes the 8 pastries in a neat box. She then counts out 8 gold and hands it to the baker. "They're not made from the bones of a child or the poison from a blow frog are they?"
Yulya flinches momentarily at the thought while glancing over to Alice and Cat but quickly dismisses any unpleasant suspicions about food

Yulya sighs as she receives the pastry from Ashley and gracefuly takes a small bite
Yes yes dont worry! And thank you!
Ohh, this is heavenly! If we had this every day our troubles would be almost bearable!

The confectioner's is next door and candies are purchased.
Yulya gleefully squirms like a little girl seeing all the candy like an addict in a meth lab.
I wish I could work here - live here!
Only after her party members press to move on Yulya buys far too little candy with a heavy heart.
I hope we an make a wholesale deal next time, Ashley! That would be fantastic.
Cat has to drag her out of the store to move on.

The next stop was the coach shop next to the stables. There they had beasts of many kinds including oxen, bulls, buffalo, donkeys, mules, horses, and giant crested birds called Filolials.
Yulya is a bit intimidated by the large bests of burden but glad there is no Rothé around. But the giant birds have a calming presence. Yulya looks at them with awe
No I have never seen such animals either! Truly worthy of royalty!

Alice's eyes narrow again and she turns to the others.
Prince and Princess of Leilon!?
Hey, I bet this has something to do with Summer they're here!
Yulya shakes her head
I do not believe so. The guard mentioned to Summer the prince was here as we entered the city. So it seems this has nothing to do with her. Yet we know nearly nothing about her. I still wonder! Nobody came to question us after we delivered her to Neverwinter. And this after she had boarded a stolen carriage with a fugitive driver?
Yulya shudders as the prospect of having to answer some royals seems way worse than any potential reward for keeping Summer safe.
I hope they dont come looking for us we must be careful today!

[At the Guild]

I apologize agin for the trouble yesterday! But I assure you Alice has good intentions and being her is not easy. Just look at her!

Freya just smiles cordially, nodding her head.

[At the Bakery]

Giant spider? What giant spider? Nobody said anything about a spider, that's the first time I'm hearing this!

Same for me. Do you know anything about this we do not Ashley?

"Shhh! I had to embellish a bit, and anyway why would they have the huge spider mural and interest in the mine without any huge spider guarding the mine? Don't spiders like dark places?"

[At the Stables]

Fi-loli-als??
What are those? Never even heard of such birds but they do look cute! Even if they don't have ears...
Can they fly?

No I have never seen such animals either! Truly worthy of royalty!

"Oh no, they are rare and they cannot fly, well kind of, they can jump and glide a little while flapping their wings very hard. So they could say jump off a cliff with your supplies and strand you at the top of a chasm while they sail gracefully to the bottom." He chuckled.

...

Ashley looks confused at Cat about mules, donkeys, whether one or more will tow or not.

Not us Nya, me Nya!
But that's alright Nya. So two strong healthy mules Nya.

The stable master guides you to a barn stable on the East side with mules and donkeys, "These donkeys are very common pack animals, they won't let you down, the mules are more willing to pull but they're just as sure footed on rough terrain, they'll carry about the same thought the mules will pull more than the donkeys."

"Here's one of my customer's mules decked out for carrying, he can carry about 420lbs without being encumbered and could tow 5x that easily. We have a standard feed but they prefer grazing." He pats the fur on the mule and moves on to a small overgrazed pasture surrounded by stone walls next to the barn where there are 5 mules lazing about. "You can pick from these, buy them now and I'll have the bags and all that fitted by tomorrow. Let's see..."

He describes a list of objects and equipment, saddle blanket, pack, harness, strapping, feed bag, reigns, and all manner of accessories to allow such an animal to comfortably carry the weight.

2 Mules 16gp
2 Mule Packs and accessories, 20lbs, capacity: 420lbs 20gp

"Hold it right there chief, are you saying these packs cost more them the mules?"

"Well sure, the mules are easier to make."

[Persuasion 1d20+6=9] Ashley lays it on a little thick and the stable master is slightly annoyed.

"I'm sorry but I can't budge on these prices, I don't make much on them, so there isn't much room for negotiation, but I will throw in 10 days of feed for free."

10 days feed, 100lbs, 5sp [This will last 5 days for two without rough pasture as described earlier.]

Ashley looks to everyone a little defeated, she shrugs and says, "I guess you're the boss, yeah, we'll take the two, how much to keep them here maybe a day or so?"

"I wouldn't charge customers stable fees, but when you come back that's 5sp per day per animal feed included."

Ashley gives the nod and he nods back, "pick the two you want and they'll be ready tomorrow morning."

Make sure they have nice ears!

[Cat's required to choose the animals, describe what makes the two you chose special.]

[These are not Ashley's Mules, so someone else will need to name them.]
...

You leave the mules in good care and the next stop was "The Wheeler", a shop nearby that sold wagons, carraiges and accessories.

Ashley goes straight to a very fancy huge carraige with large wheels and a large cargo area under the belly.

"Well hello there you all, Georgia Weatherall, Cartwright and Mechanic at your service."

"Oh hey, Ashley of York, I mean of Neverwinter. Can two mules pull this?" Ashley seems awfully distracted and starts caressing the fine wood inlayed brass frame.

The cartwright lookes at her with an amused glare, "I suppose they could but you wouldn't dare would you?"

"All we have is mules, I told them donkeys would be better but whatever."

The cartwright laughs, "I like you Ashley of Neverwinter, how much do you have to spend?"

Ashley looks down, "Not much now, but I'm saving up."

She sees Ashley's interest and makes an offer, "This one was crafted for a duke but he canceled the order in favor of a fancier one, I'm not disappointed. This one would go for 500gold."

Ashley goes into a coughing fit, and when she recovers she asks, "Do you have a cheaper one?"

She presents another, slightly used one, "80 gold for this one, it was an exchange. I have new ones for 100 gold as well."

Ashley cringes and shakes her head then looks longingly at the carriage. She's too distraught to even look at this hooptie. "Just... a pull cart, a hand pull cart please."

"Oh... well sure, we have a selection of those, ranging from 15 to 30 gold, capable of carrying 1000-2000lbs. The light one is 150lbs, the heavier ones lean toward 200-300lbs. A mule could be harnessed to pull the heavier models which could also be towed or pushed by hand if needed."

Ashley looks at Yulya and is obviously displeased, then goes and sits in the corner.

[Yulya, please continue the transaction for the cart you want. You can virtually hand tailor the cart to your specifications she has a dozen of them.]

2 Mules 16gp
2 Mule Packs and accessories, 20lbs, capacity: 420lbs 20gp
10 days feed, 100lbs, 5sp [This will last 5 days for two without rough pasture
Cat is slightly taken aback by the prices but agrees this will be a good investment. She looks at all the animals and equipment and all indeed seems to be in good quality.
Alright Nya no helping it then Nya!

Cat inspects the 5 mules, looking at their body shape and quality of their coats, patting them on their belly and back, She looks at their teeth, eyes and hooves as well as how they respond to her and the other animals. After observing them for quite a while, Cat  singles out two large drought mules. The animals shoulder height exceeds Ashley and Yulya but they remain calm in Cat's presence

Mule 1 has a dark brown coat with black legs. Its hooves are especially massive. It looks calm but reserved.

Mule 2 has a light brown coat fading into a white belly and nose. It's more curious and tries to get a taste of Cat's hair.

Alice Nya what do you think about them Nya? Satisfied with their ears Nya? Then you should name them Nya!

Cat hands the stable master 36gp.
Fine animals Sir Nya! You surely know how to look after them Nya better than me Nya! But I will also do my best to keep those mules well Nya!

You leave the mules in good care and the next stop was "The Wheeler", a shop nearby that sold wagons, carriages and accessories.
"Well hello there you all, Georgia Weatherall, Cartwright and Mechanic at your service."
"This one was crafted for a duke but he canceled the order in favor of a fancier one, I'm not disappointed. This one would go for 500gold."
Cat cringes at the fancy noble's carriage more than Ashley does at the cheap one as her ears turn backwards.

Nyaaah forget it Nya I don't want to be seen riding that thing Nya even if you paid me 500 gold Nya...
The 80gp one looks solid Nya but for now a hand cart Nya with mule option Nya - seems better Nya!

Ashley looks at Yulya and is obviously displeased, then goes and sits in the corner.

Cat whispers to Yulya
A robust one Nya that can take 2000lbs Nya with spare parts Nya - wheel Nya, axle Nya and a tongue Nya and ask them to include a bit and bridle Nya for a mule Nya and a raincover Nya! We don't want our goods to get wet Nya!

Cat pushes Yulya forward to Georgia

"I wouldn't charge customers stable fees, but when you come back that's 5sp per day per animal feed included."
Alice's eyes widen
5sp per animal per day?
That's more for one mule than the room for 4 of us costs!
Which reminds me - we must tell the guild we need another room for tonight!

Cat  singles out two large drought mules. The animals shoulder height exceeds Ashley and Yulya but they remain calm in Cat's presence[/i]
Alice Nya what do you think about them Nya? Satisfied with their ears Nya? Then you should name them Nya!
Alice carefully approaches the animals and holds out her hand with some feed
Whoa - they're huge!
And their ears - pristine!
I like them very much!

Mule 1 has a dark brown coat with black legs. Its hooves are especially massive. It looks calm but reserved.
I will name you Sandra!

Mule 2 has a light brown coat fading into a white belly and nose. It's more curious and tries to get a taste of Cat's hair.
I shall call you Sophia!

Alice is highly satisfied and even manages to catch a large iridescent blue dung beetle on the mules' pasture
Gonna bring this to Elizabeth as a present!

Now off to buy a cart!
Alice looks at all the vehicles in the shop but stays out of the conversation leaving this to the others.

Ashley looks at Yulya and is obviously displeased, then goes and sits in the corner.
Yulya nervously looks at Ashley and then to Cat unsure what to do. She quickly casts GUIDANCE in herself
I know nothing about carts Cat!

Yulya sighs and hesitantly approaching Georgia using PERSUASION
I apologize for wasting your time Miss Weatherall!
The time we will purchase a carriage will come but for now we need an adventurer-compatible hand cart. Light enough for our Barbarian to pull - which should not be an issue- but most of all sturdy enough to handle a load of 2000lbs in rough terrain. It should offer some protection from rain and snow as we need to venture into the now unusually icy Phandalin. We also need some spare parts, a wheel, axle and tounge as well as a full collar harness and bridle for one large mule to tow the cart.
Used goods are fine as long as they are in good condition.

Unfortunately our funds are sparse but I hope you can make us a good deal for a package.
Yulya bows and hopes for a miracle
