[Round 3]

Cat continues to lay in wait for one more round. She nervously looks over at Ashley seeing the Troll approach

Alice keeps motionless and tries to get a look at the troll to determine what equipment he's carrying. She also keeps a lookout for the ominous beastmaster. She peeks through the branches and sees the monster for what it is, it carries the ballista in it's hands and it's fists at the end of it's long arms are wrapped in iron spiked bands making his hands both giant sized clubs and considered light weapons to him.

[PERCEPTION 1d20+2=7, ARTIFICER/LORE 1d20+0=CM]

She notes that the Ballista has three bolts on top but has no idea how they work or if the troll can reload it, but one is ready to fire.

Yulya tries to calculate her chances of survival as the troll begins to move in her direction. It's all or nothing now. She hides deep in the tree and hopes for a miracle.

[ANGELIC INTERVENTION 1d20=9]

In her panic and dread she sees rays of light unimaginably piercing both the tree and the storm, the golden yellow rays shine around her in a divine warming glow, suddenly she receives a vision.

An angelic figure she knows as SheShe fills her heart with bravery and light if just for the moment, SheShe smiles and then gives an apologetic look. In Yulya's own mindvoice she perceives these thoughts, "you are about to face challenges that will test your abilities and will, tread carefully, not everything is an enemy. But... just so we're clear, everything you face at this moment is. I am always with you."

The image fades and Yulya's left alone and cold once again.

[For the record, I do not know what SheShe is talking about but she is usually right, so keep that in mind.]

Ashley can't see the Troll from her spot but it cannot see her either, however she she knows exactly what's going on through the multifaceted eyes of her dragonwasps. She sends another, BeeBee this time pops into the material plane and is swept south by the wind.

The dragonwasp fights to fly as far west as it can but ends up right where Beatrice was before her.

The troll swats at her. [HIT vs DC10 1d20+7=9] He misses with his main hand as BeeBee is tossed about in the wind, but then he swats at her with his off hand. [HIT vs DC10 1d20+7=10] This strike crushes her and she once again pops back to the negative plane. He examines his fist as if wondering where she went.

Ashley decides to back up,holdig her shield in front of her.

[Hidden Rolls]

The hooded figure on the wall sees this and calls out, "I know you're out there wizard! Our friend can smell you! Keep sending these worthless illusions, they'll do nothing! Leave now and you'll live to tell the tale, stay and you'll be fed to our pet! We have no accommodations for thieves and burglars." He then trains his crossbow on the field, looking for any sign of life but concentrating on the Northeast.

The beast moves Northeast, kicking snow out of his way. Though he cuts through Alice's tunnels, his destructive gate doesn't reveal anything unusual as he collapses them.

[The wake of the troll has flattened and compressed the snow disallowing tunnels.]

The hooded figure leans East as if preparing to keep sight of his 'friend'.

Cat is astonished by the man's offer to let them retreat. She looks back at Yulya in confusion but readies her Greatsword attack in case the Troll should come into her proximity.

Yulya is taken by surprise but speaks a silent prayer to SheShe for the advice. She looks over to Ashley and shakes her head. Negotiations with those bandits went nowhere last time. She gesticulates to Ashley to follow her
and moves 10 ft W hiding beneath the tree.

Alice looks at the huge creature she's never seen before thinking
The hell is this thing? he's huge! Is that what orcs look like in this world? I hope not! It has quite ugly ears, very small. But somehow ususual. Definitely worth collecting...

She pays little attention to the bandits words but notes they obviously consider themselves above thieves and burglars. Very pecular. She comes up for a plan after the troll's defeat and has to smile at her ideas.

Alice carefully moves 5ft East and 15ft NE under the tree and hides again

[Ashley requests a pause to discuss exactly how she should act and how the attack will involve her and her summons. Please see the other thread.]

[Round 3]

Cat maintains her position.

Alice carefully moves 5ft East and 15ft NE under the tree and hides again

[I apologize in advance if this is wrong, but I must take this as a position exacltly 3 squares East and Two squares North under the dormant or dead tree which does not offer the same cover as the evergreens; which is somewhat exposed. It can't be undone.]

Yulya gesticulates to Ashley to follow her and moves 10 ft W hiding beneath the tree.

Confused but not wanting to be the one who messes this up, she follows and dashes to just south of Yulya, careful not to disturb the tree.

[PERCEPTION vs Ashley's STEALTH 13 1d20+3=15]

Unfortunately the troll spots her as she jumps the gap between the trees and busts North through the trees. Instead spotting Alice then Cat he gets into position and performs a sweeping blow against both of them with his free hand.

[HIT vs (AC13<+2 SOF>,AC16) 1d20+7=(10,15)]

He swings and misses both, knocking snow and branches in his wake.

You hear from the man on the wall,
"There's more!" And he dashes East to try to get a line of sight on any possible targets.

Cat hisses upon being discovered in the last second but there is no going back now.

With a growl she activates Rage and by Vitality Surge gains temporal HP according to her level (3).
She bestows Life-Giving Force upon Alice granting her 2D6 temporal HP. This will happen at the start of every turn unless Cat determines someone else like Nixie needs the boost. As soon as Alice and Nixie flank the troll, Cat storms him and frontally attacks using Heavy with her Greatsword.

Alice reacts quickly and evades the troll's deadly strike. She moves behind him and attacks the huge creature with her spear 2-handed, then spends 1 Ki point on Flurry of Blows, making 2 unarmed strikes. A greyish metallic liquid forms on her palm as she uses Hand of Harm to deal additional necrotic damage.

Yulya sighs in relief that the troll moved westwards but her brief moment of joy abruptly ends as the monster spots and attacks Alice and Cat. Yulya momentarily closes her eyes and ducks as if she were about to be hit. Miraculously her friends remain unharmed. Yulya exhales and pats Ashley on the shoulder.
Time for Nixie! Lets go! Put everything into this attack!

Yulya waits for the other attacks to connect then takes her Goblin staff and with Darans Ring of Quick Casting casts 2x Toll the Dead on the monster. After the attack is finished she moves 10 ft S but makes sure she stays in cover of the tree and out of sight of the bandit.

[According to the rules, since you apply "Life-Giving Force" at the start of your turn while Raging, you won’t be able to use this until the turn after you Rage. https://rpgbot.net/2024-dnd/classes/barbarian/barbarian-subclasses/world-tree/

Alice reacts quickly and evades the troll's deadly strike. She moves behind him [FLANKING] and attacks the huge creature with her spear 2-handed, then spends 1 Ki point on Flurry of Blows, making 2 unarmed strikes. A greyish metallic liquid forms on her palm as she uses Hand of Harm to deal additional necrotic damage.

[In order to flank in this case, Alice must move into the position shown which has line of sight to the man on the wall. If the troll survives this gauntlet, The man on the wall technically has flank with it. This cannot be undone.]

[HAND OF HARM: ONCE PER TURN WHEN YOU HIT A CREATURE WITH AN UNARMED STRIKE, YOU CAN EXPEND 1DP TO DEAL EXTRA NECROTIC DAMAGE EQUAL TO YOUR MARTIAL ARTS DIE PLUS YOUR WISDOM MODIFIER. I take this as expending an additional 1 ki point, you had 3, used one for flurry of blows and another for hand of harm. Remember that since you used Ki points this turn [a bonus action], per our agreement you cannot deflect attack, though you will still reduce the first hit on you each round [a reaction], additionally, if you use your last ki point on something else, deflect attack will be disallowed, so per our agreement you must save your last ki point for deflect attack [a trigger] even though it does not expend that point, it instead expends it's own pool of points also per our agreement.]

[HIT vs AC15 SPEAR 1d20+2+3+1d4EB=(25,26), UNARMEDx2 1d20+2+3+1d4EB=(25,9),(21,27)][DMG 1d8+3=6 Piercing, 2d6+6=15[/2] Bludgeoning +2d6=10 Necrotic]

Alice's moves with the speed of a mongoose and her attack was true, she strikes through his especially tough, rock-like skin with her spear then as she assaults him with her fists she senses he can absorb some of the blow [Resistance to Bludgeoning] for a total of 23 damage!

Cat follows Alice with a heavy strike of her Great Sword [HIT vs AC15 1d20+4+2+1+1d4EB(-5 HEAVY)=(23,15)][DMG 2d6+4+1(+10 HEAVY)=20] And also hits true with the magic slash of her greatsword, gambling she could hit the flanked fiend, she puts extra effort into the attack and it pays off for 20 damage!

Given their embolding bond and advantage, he was hard to miss. He reels at the blows, obviously significantly hurt by their combo.

Concentrating on calling her companion, a purple hue of magic surrounds her as Ashley summons Nixie.

With a loud bang that rings throughout the battlefield a large sleek panther enters the material plane. She approaches the large troll with Pounce. [HIT CLAW vs AC15 1d20+4=(15,22), GRAPPLE vs DC12 1d20+4=6, HIT BITE vs AC15 1d20+4=(17,19), CON vs DC14 1d20+8=25,19][DMG 2d6+4=12]

Nixie approaches the beast and claws at its tough hide. Succeeding in getting a foothold, she grapples him and sinks her teeth in for a total of 12 damage.

[Here's the Grappling rules again as I've defined them for reference. I considered "area of effect" to include Yulya's sacred flame as it does "descend on the target" but it does not say an area, it says a creature, so Nixie is safe from that spell.]
1. A grapple may be used instead of an attack requiring one action and requires a check of Strength (Acrobatics) vs the creature's Strength (Acrobatics) or Dexterity (Athletics) whichever is greater.
2. Any subsequent attacks by the grappler are done with advantage and critical hits are extended to one more on the roll.
3. If an attack to the grappled creature is a critical miss, the grappler takes the hit.
4. Area of affect spells also affect the grappler.
5. The grappled creature must use an action to try to escape DEX or STR vs the original DC.
If the creature is additionally no more than 1 size larger:
6. The grappled creature is immobilized.
7. Any subsequent attacks by the grappled creature are done with disadvantage.
8. Neither the grappled creature nor the grappler can cast spells requiring somatic gestures.
9. The grappled creature cannot change weapons other than natural weapons.
[Nixie meets all these criteria, the troll is immobilized]

Yulya waits for the other attacks to connect then takes her Goblin staff and with Daran's Ring of Quick Casting casts 2x Toll the Dead on the monster. After the attack is finished she moves 10 ft S but makes sure she stays in cover of the tree and out of sight of the bandit.

The sound of a bell fills the air with an ominous tone as Yulya draws upon ancient magics both dark and mysterious. The Shaman's staff warms to the touch and buds that seemed lifeless bloom as it additionally imparts it's goblin magic to her spell. [SAVE WIS vs DC15 1d20=13,4][DMG WOUNDED 2d12+6=18] The Troll takes it's punishment for attacking Yulya's friends and narrowly survives the gauntlet.

Grappled but not downed, the troll attempts another standing sweep then tries to bite Nixie [HIT vs AC15, 15, 12 with disadvantage 1d20+7=(25,27),(8,16),(23,20)][DMG 2d8+4=12, 1d6+4=6]

Alice is hit but reacts in time to deflect the blow by [BLOCK 1d10+3+3=10] in addition she resists the blunt strike reducing the hit to 1HP.

Nixie is unable to dodge the bite and takes 6 damage, in addition, a strange aura surrounds the troll upon biting her, he heals 10HP from the attack.

The man on the wall spots Alice and takes aim, [HIT vs 15AC 1d20+2=(21,20)][DMG 1d10=8] The bolt flies through the air and sinks into Alice's back.

[The rolls were very kind this round, make your moves.]

Cat draws power from the World Tree and attempts to heal Alice, then signals her to switch sides, racing around the troll to absorb damage from the bandit's crossbow.
You go in front Nya! Keep hitting him Nya!

Again Cat swings her Greatsword for a Heavy blow.

[Alice moves with the speed of a mongoose and her attack was true, she strikes through his especially tough, rock-like skin with her spear then as she assaults him with her fists she senses he can absorb some of the blow [Resistance to Bludgeoning] for a total of 23 damage!

Alice looks at her own hands in astonishment.
Owo, what's this? Looks like some of my powers are slowly coming back!

Nixie approaches the beast and claws at its tough hide. Succeeding in getting a foothold, she grapples him and sinks her teeth in for a total of 12 damage.
Nice, good kitteh! Hold him down! We got him!
Alice exclaims in excitement

Grappled but not downed, the troll attempts another standing sweep
Alice is hit but reacts in time to deflect the blow, in addition she resists the blunt strike reducing the hit to 1HP.
Feeling near invincible, the feisty mongoose gets a bit overconfident...
The hell was that supposed to be? Even a goblin child strikes harder than that!

...and is promptly shot
The man on the wall spots Alice and takes aim, [HIT vs 15AC 1d20+2=(21,20)][DMG 1d10=8] The bolt flies through the air and sinks into Alice's back.
Wincing in pain Alice turns around spotting the crossbowman. She notes him down as the new goblin #8 and hopes to get her hands on him for that.

Nixie is unable to dodge the bite and takes 6 damage, in addition, a strange aura surrounds the troll upon biting her, he heals 10HP from the attack.
Alice is alarmed, the confidence vanishes
Don't let him bite you! He's got some kind of regeneration! Take him down now!

Cat signals her to switch sides, racing around the troll to absorb damage from the bandit's crossbow.
You go in front Nya! Keep hitting him Nya!
Alice whirls around moving N and attacks the troll from the front with her spear 2-handed followed by an unarmed strike. She expends her last Ki point to deal additional necrotic damage with Hand of Harm.

Yulya is relieved the attack went well and everyone is still standing but the troll is not down either. Yulya again uses her Ring of quick casting in combination with the goblin staff after Alice Cat and Nixie attacked. If the troll is still a threat, she will use Toll the Dead on him and stay where she is.

If he is down Yulya will move 10ft South (in addition to the 10ft she should have moved last turn) and attack the bandit with the crossbow with Sacred Flame twice. Then she retreats 5ft back into the cover of the tree.
That regeneration indeed is troublesome! We must end this now!
