Nyaa I was thinking about making bear Nya but it will take a while Nya can you wait that long Nya?
Alice smirks.
No need to worry, I have my ways!

After the meat is harvested and in the pot, Alice inspects the bugbears.
Can't let them go to waste, they're already Well Done! Now for a Bugbear Appetizer before the Bear main course!

Alice spreads out in the room with the beds, resting and absorbing charred bugbear flesh until she is called. Various lice, fleas and ticks abandoning the cold corpses are also digested before they can infest the furniture.

Cat prepares: Pulled Bear in flatbread (essentially Kebap)
When the meat is almost done, Cat instructs Alice to shred it to pieces while she bakes thin flatbread in her pan with cooking oil. The bread is used as wrapping for the pulled bear meat, pickles are served as a side dish.
Alice claps her hands
This is marvelous! Well done! Even better than I had anticipated!

After dinner it's cleanup time. After Alice has cleaned Cat's cooking utensils, Alice proceeds tidying up the mine.
Cat, help me drag the corpses outside of the palisades! Otherwise we'll have their parasites everywhere! If only I could spawn my Artificial Trees, we'd pile the corpses up and have a capable Guard Tree at the entrance in a couple of hours...

Hey, let's pile them up in front of the gate as a warning!

As the mecha goddess is gone, I guess we can forget setting up a poison trap. Can you make at least a simple mechanical one, Cat, maybe with the net? We should boobie trap that South tunnel.

Exhausted as well, Yulya retreats to rest with Ashley until the meal is ready.

Cat prepares: Pulled Bear in flatbread (essentially Kebap)
She thaws and simmers the bear meat in her pot with salt and her last spices for a considerable time. Cat prepares a simple dough of flour, water and salt and lets it rest. When the meat is almost done, Cat instructs Alice to shred it to pieces while she bakes thin flatbread in her pan with cooking oil. The bread is used as wrapping for the pulled bear meat, pickles are served as a side dish.
Yulya is a little unsure about bear at first but has become used to eating all sorts of animals (and humans). The scent is alluring and the taste great.

Alice claps her hands
This is marvelous! Well done! Even better than I had anticipated!
I concur! Another great meal Cat!

Yulya saves a serving for Ashley and then returns to rest. Just then it occurs to her that the mechatherial goddess never responded to her question as to why Alices ship was pulled from orbit.

Cat downplays her praised Bear Kebap
Nyaa I do what I can with the few things we have here Nya!

Cat, help me drag the corpses outside of the palisades! Otherwise we'll have their parasites everywhere! If only I could spawn my Artificial Trees, we'd pile the corpses up and have a capable Guard Tree at the entrance in a couple of hours...
Nyaa is this something like the World Tree? I really wanna see your trees some day Nya!

Hey, let's pile them up in front of the gate as a warning!
Nyo, this would cost us the element of urprise Nya!

Cat helps Alice drag the corpses outside and deposit them a bit left away from the palisades so that they are not too obvious and soon covered by snow. Cat is glad the bugbears have ben deloused by Alice first so no pests can hop over onto her fur.

As the mecha goddess is gone, I guess we can forget setting up a poison trap. Can you make at least a simple mechanical one, Cat, maybe with the net? We should boobie trap that South tunnel.
Hmm, not a bad idea Nya! Let's give it a look Nya!

Cat enters Rage and investigates the tunnel wiith Primal Knowledge to see if her Survival Skills help her setting up a trap with the available materials.
Nyaa they had a trap with the rope Nya we can reactivate and modify this Nya! I assume they'll know where it is supposed to be but if we move it to the south tunnel Nya someone might fall for it Nya!

Cat relies on her boosted abilities while raging to attempt to determine the setup of a trap. Given she was living a tribal life, her lore includes trapping and other means to catch prey in that survival. It is a trivial task for her to imagine resetting the trap that was originally found, but setting up a new trap has additional risks as she hasn't had specific experience in designing traps for humanoids. The missing information would be in making the trap stable, unnoticeable, and the potency of the trap.

She is also out of her element in this environment. She can consider if Ashley could be roused to help; the likelihood of success is far better with her.

[The odds increase roughly 30% with Ashley's knowledge and the risk is significantly lessened.]

[Decide if yoy want to attempt to set a trap given your skills or if you want to wake up Ashley to help. Keep in mind that crafting and setting the trap will take an hour each. These are hours that run the risk of encounters and you still need to rest.]

[Plan your next span of hours and what you want to do, Interactions from everyone is required]

Ashley sleeps peacefully in the tent for at least a another hour.

Alice raises an eyebrow.
World Tree? What's that? Something magical I guess.
No, my Artificial Trees are much like I am now. An organic construct infused with a tiny bit of Living Metal. They can take all sorts of shapes and sizes depending on the environment and thrive on sunlight or anything even remotely edible Like corpses of enemies. Here in the mine they'd resemble more like that ooze in form and behavior. Much less mobile though. The neat thing is that they are also factories that can produce all sorts of simple items, mostly food. Oh, end they excel at healing people. At least humans. Providing you have the time. It's not magic so they need days to grow into something useful and weeks to produce more complex stuff or regenerate people. Well, you'll see sooner or later when I get my ship back!

Alice assists Cat at making a trap, then rests.

Cat thinks hard but fails to design a satisfactory trap on her own.

She decides to prepare everything for the trap, the rope of the previous trap, net, several stray weapons laying around that could be made to fall from the ceiling or lay on the ground for the victim to fall on them. She's collecting wood and debris for camouflage while the others rest. She doesn't want to wake Ashley but when she wakes up, Cat consults Ashley in finishing the trap. Then it's Cat's turn to rest while Ashley keeps watch.

[Hidden Rolls]

[Time: Tuesday, Spring 25, 1300, 9C Calm Inside, -12C Windy, Light Snow Outside]

Ashley awakens after about a 4 hour nap and sees the ration Yulya saved for her. She's starving and scarfs it down in record time.

In a much better mood and refreshed, she sees Cat pondering something and after a few words they're off to set up a trap. After the trap is set, Ashley will guard for 4 hours with Nixie then rest another 4. Then it should be time to move on.

[Given the items you have available, choose three of these you want to attempt. The Saving throw is what is required to survive the trap and the DC is both the requirement for survival and successful setup. The trap will have a chance of triggering during setup based on the skills of those setting it up which is pretty low considering the conglomerate of skills of Alice, Cat and Ashley. It will take 1 hour to set up a single trap materials permitting. I say pick three so I can make sure at least one has the material required and all that. Please specify how you will set it up, where and with roughly what materials for at least one of the choices if not already mentioned.]

Note: This level is the least likely to have any further chance encounters and that decays over time, so the longer you're here, the less likely it is to have one, by now it's practically safe. Every lower level will have increasing difficulty and chances of encounters. To mitigate this, if you can find rooms to barricade yourself in any other means of protection. At this level, keeping Nixie from potentially going on a rampage requires Ashley's attention so she can't sleep or rest effectively while Nixie is summoned, the same is not true for the bigglesworths, and less so for the Lynxes, so they can at least act as early warning if everyone sleeps or rests.

Ashley, Cat and Alice walk back to the entrance, "Let's do two good ones for the two entrances for anyone on their way in. At least it'll scare them off thinking there's more."

Interactions Required (except Yulya is optional, for the next two hours, but think about what to do as you're not sleeping the whole next 8.)

Alice looks at the main entrance.
We should create a cave-in here! The damage would be massive! There's not much I could help with though. That's your specialty!

Cat quietly Nyaas to herself while inspecting the cave ceiling.
Nyaa here where the passage is narrowest Nya seems like a good spot for  cave-in Nya. I hope the Rockseekers forgive us Nya! The damage will be massive Nya you like to go all out Alice Nya! What do you think Ashley Nya?

Cat moves on to look at the South corridor to select spots for to additional traps.
Weapons falling from the ceiling here Nya and - Nyahaha this will be my favorite! The Swinging Greataxe at the end of the corridor Nya!
Cat points at the ceiling.
[See Meta Thread]

Aand - after this we can drive them mad Nya by just placing suspicious objects left and right Nya. Costs us nothing Nya and isn't dangerous to us Nya but they will have to investigate them all Nya they'll be paranoid after 3 traps Nya!

Ashley listens to Cat's plan and it's solid but... "Uh, yeah, but there's already a trap here. This is the first one I disabled..." Ashley pauses as she points up, "wait... I disabled this? Yeah yeah, this one and the rope thing, but the rope thing was more like a false flag, you disable that one and this one you don't see. It was when we first came in, it feels like ages ago but it was literally yesterday. Maybe I didn't even mention it?"

[The area in red is the site of the trap that was already in place.]

Ashley points to the pieces that can be removed to reset the trigger and it takes no time to do that. She points out a loose wide stone, and if it's disturbed by something at least human sized the ceiling will collapse here. The stone in question is just to the south of the tracks in the middle of the area.

Rockfall: 2d10 DC15
Foot Noose: Captures one medium creature to be hung upside down and incapacitated for a number of turns.

[Yes I forgot to mention Ashley also disabled the rock-fall trap at the entrance, I could have sworn I mentioned it but maybe I forgot to copy/paste that. So that trap is easy, along with the foot trap that causes someone to get hoisted upside down.]

Ashley then resets the noose trap and makes it obvious that it's there so anyone entering would see that and have a better chance of missing the second trap.

[The foot catching trap has a DC of 5 and the rockfall is DC15 so if you rolled in-between those you would be led to think it was the only trap and walk into the rockfall. If you try to free the one hanging, you also step on the other trap. By the way it was safely disarmed by putting larger stones on the pad to wedge it and keep it from moving. There's no roll needed to reverse this and you won't trigger it becuase you know where the triggering stones are.]

Ashley speaks next about the falling blades idea, "You only have 5ft there and the ceiling of the passage is solid, so it's going to be hard to hide it, even if we removed the wood for a portion of the ceiling, who knows what's above that and we don't have all day to dig to give enough room for falling blades, but I think we could put the caltrops and ball bearings in the South corridor and so that leaves us with the last one."

Alice, Cat and Ashley work on setting up the large battleaxe to swing at anyone coming though. Ashley remembers to get Yulya to cast guidance on everyone before you begin.

[CAT:STR+RAGE 1d20+5+1d4=(18,18); ASH:INT 1d20+2+1d4=18; ALICE:DEX 1d20+3+1d4=15]

Given the cooperation of everyone, the trap is set without issues.

Weapon Swing Trap: 2d12 DC15

Satisfied by a great set of traps, all that's left is to agree on the caltrops and bearings, "They could step over the caltrops and then not see the bearings, slip and slide right into the swinging axe, it's perfect."

[Inteactions and agreement or negotiation required]

Alice looks at Ashley in confusion
That's the first time I'm hearing of this! You sure? I mean you were dead. Well, that saves me doing incredibly dangerous stuff. Also if this was already there, the dwarves can't blame us for collapsing their mine!

"They could step over the caltrops and then not see the bearings, slip and slide right into the swinging axe, it's perfect."
Alice isn't fully convinced.
You sure are right, but I question if we should spend all caltrops and ball bearings here. That means we won't have any down there. Haa, I wish we had bought more...
Alice looks over at Cat and lets her decide.

Before we leave, we gotta pack up what we want to take with us! I suggest we put everything in those large brown bags so we can carry them bit by bit. Oh, and Ashley's gotta reactivate the elevator!

A sleepy Yulya oversees the trap construction and casts GUIDANCE on everyone.

I cannot remember this trap either! To think we walked past this... without Daniellas intel we would probably have fallen for it. We must advance more carefully!
Ashley do you think you can reactivate the elevator? M3gan blocked it she easily understood which chain to pull! I suggest you figure it out while we pack our gear. Take your time - we neither want to be stuck up here but especially not down there. We must prevent someone coming here from outside from doing what we did - or we might starve down there if they block the elevator from going up.

Yulya is slightly anxious about getting trapped in a mine with no way out

Cat thinks
Nyaa I say spread them here Nya we dont want people messing with the elevator Nya or setting up a siege Nya here while we are down there Nya.

Cat is especially pleased with the swing axe Nyahaha-ing to herself.

Let's collect  our stuff Nya!
Cat takes the heavy crossbow and ammo out of the supplies.

"I'll look around and see if there's anything else of value." Ashley searches the level one last time.

[I'll post a list of anything Ashley finds, for now, let me know if you want to do anything else before going down.]
