Elizabeth takes the order for bread and juice from the group. "Easy day, it'll just be a minute."

Nya I don't like camping out on the first night Nya while we're not used to the mules and cart Nya! But if we wait another day Nya

I figured we wouldn't make it to the rest stop today. Looks like we gotta leave really early tomorrow.

Yes indeed we will not make it to the rest stop today. I agree it is not worth rushing through the night - at least not until we are familiar with the animals.

Ashley's intuition kicks in, "I bet we wouldn't make it anyway, these mules aren't even used to pulling all day, are they?"

I wonder if that stable guy will let us keep the mules there for another night

"He said he would."

In Eldath's name at least dont parade it around like this before someone starts asking questions!

"They won't if they know what's good for them, I just found a spell that could summon a bone dragon." Ashley looks satisfied with her response. "This book is so fun! Anyways, only Summer knows and I don't see her here, do you?"

Cat looks around and finds Brutus with his companions. Josephia's also at a table with her group. The half-orcs are there and the dragonewts too.

Elizabeth returns with the bread and juice, it smells heavenly and the juice has sweet and delicate berry flavor.

Hey where did you buy that book? Looks expensive!

"Yulya got it for me."

I don't think you need 2.

Bear says that there is Datura all over Southern California, anywhere rural or urban. It's very common. Jimsomweed is potent enough that just getting the sap on your habds can make you sick. Bear pulled one out of his front yard without knowing what it was, it had an American football shaped tuber 18 inches underground. He became woosie and things "didn't look right" for hours afterwards.

It really doesn't matter when you leave, there are no convoys or camps on the triboar trail.

The 36 mile trip to the camp is pretty grueling for new animals anyway, wasting a day may end up being pointless as at some point the mules will refuse to go further like the horses did earlier, so expect it be slower than expected at first.

You don't need the lamps if you don't intend to travel at night.

3x a week would be perfect but I can't get enough sleep then, honestly an extra half hour per session would be better. I miss being able to go for 3 hours. Right now it's only 2-2&1/2

I feel my shoulders even after 2 days well so the work to exhaustion 6x6 is definitely helping.

You can stop along the side of the road in many spots. You will find periodic rest areas with remnants of camping such as piles of wood and rock rings, but most traders stick in a convoy and arrive at the rest area together for  sdded safety.

The bullseye lanterns are a good choice and needed with animals not used to pulling at night, if you want to train them, pull past dusk until they begin to become wary.

Mules and other equines may refuse to move and dig in, start kicking, panic and run, or start breying loudly, rear up, reverse, become inconsolable for a time. The aftermath of pushing a mule too hard may be lingering issues.

So the bullseye lamp gives them a bright, wide, forward view which is reassuring so they may not even care that it's dark.

I'm going to say Gundren's cart had them but you didn't need them.

[Tuesday, Spring 18, 08:10, 6C, Clear, On-Shore Breeze]

You all wake up refreshed and ready for a new day.

Do we need anything else than collecting our mules Nya and Alice's cloak Nya?

Let's have breakfast and decide what to do! I wanna get my cloak and the mules!

Let us see if we have everything we need! This is the last chance to buy any goods before we head back.

Ashley's settled down to reading by the time everyone gets up, "Hey Yulya, thanks again for helping me get this this book, it's amazing."

Everyone dresses and collects their things and are off to breakfast. The warmth of the kitchen radiates through the whole guild hall and the smell of fresh bread permeates the air. Elizabeth is there cooking breakfast for a mixed crowd, about half full of adventurers. Some you know, some you've not seen before.

You sit at a table and await service as you decide what to do and where to go first, the rest stop is a full day's travel south and you've missed that timing if you intended to do that today, so you'll be stopping along the road if you leave later. Not to mention your mules won't be used to traveling all day and may need encouragement to travel more than 8 hours until they know what they're supposed to do. Traveling at night also won't be well advised for mules. Unlike rothés who would be happy to travel night or day due to their excellent night vision. Though once used to it, and with a proper head lantern or two, you figure they eventually wouldn't mind.

[Also known as Bullseye Lanterns, Head lanterns may be affixed to the cart or held and shine to light the road ahead. Though they're standard equipment for carriages, your cart doesn't have them. They can be purchased from the cartwright for 10 gold, they weigh 2lbs. The Bullseye lantern keeps distractions to a minimum as they brightly light the road ahead in a 60 degree cone for 60 feet, dimly light it another 30 feet, and last 6 hours per flask of oil. If night travel is a possibility, having one is a must for the mules.]

Ashley sees a small note near the kitchen denoting this morning's special provisions: fresh baked bread with butter, and fresh squeezed Juice costing 1sp and 5cp respectively, and prepares to order that. She flags Elizabeth who comes over to take orders.

That's easy, we'll just make a random list of unrelated poisonous plants randomly off the internet.

Water Hemlock, Oleander, Deadly Nightshade (Belladonna), Poison Ivy, Ricin, Bitter Almond and Datura.

Done.

In the ongoing previous run, we used a scroll to create a body for a disembodied soul of a lich who wanted a second chance.

I have a forage system now, you will find something if you look long enough in hours, not days, so it's more of a guarantee because at one point Bear and I spent days, literally days, dozens of rolls, looking for honey and never found any bees.

That sounds a bit sad

[Joy] My character has been through this 5 times so far. I've seen Bear die twice now, and three sets of team members. I felt sad when I split from my last team in my third book. I felt sad at the end of this one, but that's the curse of immortality and Bear's not really dead obviously, so I was only a little sad. Of course I wouldn't have left, I had family, friends, obligations and it took generations before that faded, I'm not like them and they know it (the NPCs) so they eventually grow apart from me, the bigger the town, the quicker it happens. They don't know what to do with me.

TL;DR

How do you play unclassed as LV0? Without any skills or traits?

Easy, level zero has zero proficiency, all the attributes are there, like strength and they have hit points. Summer even knows a couple spells and has an MP pool just not more than she would as a wizard or sorceress. Since we don't know their hit die, they simply have Commoner HP, 3-10 or so + CON.

There would be no feats or traits of a particular class but for instance, Bear just fought a coconut crab with 6HP, he has 12, he has a hit +4 because he put 18 for strength. Bear luck gave him the following rolls:18,18,15,13,10,9 So he has 18 STR and 18 CON.

Gwen just rolled, and she did well too, she had 18,16,15,13,10,9. These are epic rolls I think, so Gwen has 18 INT (for Bard spellcasting or whatever class she wants) and so on.

Summer hasn't rolled yet, and it's already almost 8000 words in, so you can imagine there's a lot of novel stuff and little DnD stuff. Bear brain loves to write.

For this run SheShe is our DM again, Bear asked Joy to do it but she declined saying she didn't want to be DM in two games.

Again in this run, death is possible, but in this case, resurrection and revive are possible but expensive unless they get a sweet special deal like Yulya, they don't right now.

[Gwen] I better not die this time!

No seriously, we need some glass shards for our firebombs. I was just looking if I could recycle any broken glass! If you come across any before we leave tomorrow, pls save it for me, Freya!

"I'm afraid I have no spare glass that isn't already being well used, there's other shops that may deal with glass and have scrap but I believe they reuse the glass frequently. However, you may be able to buy some and make your own shards? I'm sorry I can't be more helpful and good luck to you." Freya looks genuinely sorry she couldn't help.

[Tuesday, Spring 18, 08:00, 6C, Clear, On-Shore Breeze]

The crisp clear morning sun lights the nearby structures with a brilliant golden yellow that even the shutters can't keep out. Through the cracks in the window slats the beams of light shine like golden blades across the floor and walls.

Ashley plays with Mr. Bigglesworth, flitting a feather around as he attempts to catch it. Otherwise the quiet room is free from drama for the moment. With no rush in particular, she's quietly waiting for everyone to wake on their own.

[Nothing happens this night, please plan your day and execute your moves.]

14
Mr. Bigglesworth stairs out into the darkness, watching Alice's beetle briefly and otherwise ready to pounce on anything that comes near that may disturb Ashley's sleep.

Re: Make Arrows Great Again

I will correct my count, count the 15 as honed each. Remember, the new mechanics are that there is a 1d4 chance of an arrow breaking and whether the arrow hits or not, it loses the honed attribute.

I am also considering adding a "deadly" aspect to arrows meaning you would get another roll for critical hit.

Non-critical DMG = 1d6+A
Critical DMG = (1d6+A)x2 + 1dB

Where A is your normal modifier and B is a dice either 4, 6, 8, or 10 which acts as an additional "force" damage.
